Junior Healthcare Counsel
Position Summary:
In this role, you will coordinate with other members of the Legal Department and other major second line functions, such as Compliance, Clinical Operations, and Security to (a) understand and document regulatory requirements, (b) implement systems for comprehensively tracking regulatory requirements, (c) monitor compliance with those requirements to inform regulatory reporting, governance, and prioritization decisions, and (d) build quality assurance and oversight into all of our major business functions.
Position Qualifications/Essential Functions
- Effective communication skills, including with external parties, state, and federal regulators
- Ability to facilitate the dissemination of legislation and regulations as necessary to support implementation and compliance efforts
- Monitor key issues and activities and periodically provide updates to appropriate contacts
- Create and monitor project work plans to ensure that tasks are identified, executed, and timelines are met
- Support business operations by analyzing new statutes and regulations for requirements and effective implementation
- Develop recommendations for compliance with new laws and regulations
- Assist with drafting and reviewing of policies and procedures to ensure compliance
- Experience counseling on applicable federal and state regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, fraud and abuse analysis, licensure); provider practice compliance; contract review/negotiation; vendor management matters.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
- 1-2 years’ experience presenting information and responding to questions from Senior Leadership
- Experience with corporate/medical licensing
- 1-year knowledge of Medicare
Education/Experience:
- J.D. and admission to practice law in at least one state of operations required
- 1-2 years of experience with healthcare compliance required
- 1-2 years demonstrated experience supporting/driving a project to its completion
